SSC CHSL Skill Test

Module II of Section III includes a Skill Test/Typing Test, which is conducted during Session II on the same day. This test assesses candidates’ typing skills and abilities. It is qualifying in nature, and candidates must follow the evaluation guidelines provided on the Commission’s website. Errors made during the Skill Test will be calculated to two decimal places. SSC CHSL Skill Test for DEO/DEO Grade A Posts

For DEO/DEO Grade A positions in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and the Ministry of Culture, candidates will be assessed on their typing proficiency, requiring a speed of 15,000 key depressions per hour on a computer. This will be evaluated by accurately inputting words/key depressions from a provided passage. The test lasts for 15 minutes, during which candidates will receive printed English material containing approximately 3,700 to 4,000 key depressions to enter into the computer.

For DEO/DEO Grade A positions in other departments, candidates will need to demonstrate a data entry speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on a computer. This will also be evaluated based on accurately inputting words/key depressions from a provided passage. The test duration is 15 minutes, with candidates receiving printed English material containing approximately 2,000 to 2,200 key depressions.

SSC CHSL Typing Test for LDC/JSA Post

Candidates can choose either Hindi or English as the medium for the Typing Test during the application process. Those selecting English must achieve a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.), while those opting for Hindi should attain a speed of 30 w.p.m.

These speeds correspond to approximately 10,500 key depressions per hour for English and 9,000 key depressions per hour for Hindi. The Typing Test evaluates typing accuracy on a given text passage within a 10-minute timeframe. Candidates eligible for a scribe as per specified criteria will receive an additional 5 minutes, extending their Typing Test duration to 15 minutes.
